You've also got all the risks of a software based switcher. I need at least 4 cameras, one replay, and two channels of graphics all that adds up to nine sources with no room for expansion. The UI makes it hard to fit enough sources on a screen, and you can only preview one M/E at a time. It's got the Panasonic beat in a few areas, such as how it will take about anything as an input, and it's network inputs have allowed me to make some high quality graphics for about nothing, but some serious issues hold it back. Last year the boss pulled some strings and got us a Tricaster 8000. With some cleverness (yay GPI), I could probably make it do what I need, but I'd rather have some room for flexibility. It's got no M/E's, no ability for custom transitions, nothing fancy. We've had a Panasonic HS450 for a while, and while I don't have any real issues with it, it's too basic for what we want to do. I work at a university and I we might be in the market for a new switcher soon.
